Frequently Asked Questions:
- What about the 5th grade color run? Great question! While we cannot have the color run as part of our Virtual Hero Fit Challenge we are committed to still getting our “graduating” students their event. We are hoping to offer a special run date in the fall for our newly minted alumni-Bears to come back to participate in their fun together!
- What about pledges? Another great question!
- If you or your students’ sponsors have made a flat donation then that donation has already processed.
- If you or your students’ sponsors made a “per-lap” donation then those will process 3 days after the event and the calculation will be made based on each student completing 30 “fitness challenges” instead of laps. Since we cannot be together to mark laps or challenges in person, Booster will assume each student completed all 30 challenges.
- Due to social distancing, all donations must be made online through the student’s website. There will be no cash or check payments accepted. If you have a sponsor that would like to pay by cash or check it is suggested for the parent or guardian to collect that payment and then make a credit card donation in that person’s name through the website for the student to receive credit.
- What about prizes, do we still get them for receiving pledges? Yes! Don’t worry, all prizes for each sponsorship level and the nightly challenges will be made available to the students after the event is over, just in time to play with them over the summer break! We will announce details about the pickup date soon.
- Will there be any special challenges to earn extra prizes like usual? Yes! If your student wants to get an extra prize or two then take a look at the schedule of nightly challenges from our Booster team so you can prepare! The middle column is a character challenge, while the last column is the prize challenge for each day!
- At a time like this why are we still holding the Booster event?
While we recognize that no time is a good time to have a global pandemic. The closure of schools and businesses hit at a particularly inconvenient time for us as we had already started our Booster fundraiser at Ballantyne. Given that, our non-refundable fee had already been paid to Booster (who still has to pay their employees during this time as well) and we had already paid for the t-shirts for each child (multiplied by over 1,000 students and it is a significant amount!) Rather than let that money go to waste, your PTA got together with the school administrations and the Booster team to brainstorm what we could do to still celebrate our students and let them close out this year with a bang. Booster even graciously allowed us to still keep our anticipated percentage of the donations (even though we will almost certainly not hit the target required to achieve that rate of giveback). While it would be wonderful if students still receive donations (since those are the funds that we rely on for the PTA operating next school year), we know that many families have been impacted by this pandemic and are not able to donate at this time. We have adopted the tag line "shoot for the moon but land among the stars." We still have a goal that we would love to meet but we will work with what we get even if that means what we can provide for the school next year looks a little different than in years past. At the end of the day we really are running the Hero Fit Challenge as a FUN-draiser and a way for the students to celebrate the end of the school year with their classes. We know the teachers are looking forward to celebrating with their students all week! There is no expectation of donation to participate but hope it brings a bit of joy to the kids, the families, and the staff. If you have already made a donation online and wish to change it in any way, please submit a request through the online Boosterthon Help Desk found on funrun.com.
