Birthday Rock Frequently Asked Questions
There are several rocks, can I paint any of them that I want?
No, the birthday rock is the large rock located by the front entrance of the school, it is the larger of the two rocks closest to the school building. The other rocks and surfaces are not open to public painting.
How much does it cost to paint the rock for my Bear's special day?
The fee to reserve the rock for your Bear's special day is $5. These donations are used to help the PTA provide programs and resources to each student at Ballantyne Elementary. Since we will begin the year in a virtual environment, we have added the ability to pay for your slot right on the sign-up! Simply choose your date, fill out your information, and complete payment. Sign-Up Genius uses WePay to process payment transactions but you will not need a WePay account to use this service.
For questions on payment please contact us at [email protected].
When can I begin painting the rock?
When you reserve the rock, you can begin painting at 4:30 pm the afternoon before your sign-up. For example, if you have the rock for Tuesday, September 3rd, you can begin painting on Monday, September 2nd, at 4:30 pm. Please do not begin painting earlier to allow the previous student to enjoy a full day of "their special rock" before the artwork changes.
Does the PTA provide the supplies or can I have someone paint the rock for me?
No, sorry! You must provide your own idea, supplies and labor.
Is there any paint I cannot use on the rock?
All types of paint and/or spray paint are permitted but please be aware of the cars parked around you while you work. If the outdoor conditions are windy, spray paint will blow onto nearby vehicles. Please choose a different material to paint your rock in windy conditions to keep the school grounds and cars clear of any damages.
Is there anything else I cannot do?
Since this is in front of the school, there can be no vulgarities on the rock of any type. You also cannot use nails to attach anything to the rock or try to puncture the rock in any way. Finally, any supplies that you bring must be cleaned up when you leave.
Thank you for donating to the PTA Beautification Committee, helping to keep our school beautiful and for celebrating your BES Bear!
