If you are looking for specific information about the 2020-2021 Capital Campaign then you have come to the right place!  Read on for information about the fundraising drive, incentives offered and how you can support your child today!

What is a Capital Campaign?

A capital campaign is another way to say "fundraising drive" or "fundraiser".  We set aside one month at the beginning of school to raise funds that we use all year long to support our students and staff in ways that a public school cannot always achieve without outside support.

When is this year's campaign?

The 2020-2021 Capital Campaign will kick off on October 16th and run through November 20th

Does all of the money benefit our school?

Yes!!  Unlike other fundraisers, the money made from this short drive will stay in house 100%.  That means 100% of the money goes to benefitting OUR teachers, OUR staff and OUR students.  If you have to make a choice on fundraisers, choose the one with the most impact!

What happens to all of the money raised?

The PTA has paid for many programs and resources that most parents do not consider.  If your child used a touch-screen Chromebook, sat on media center furniture, played on the back playground turf field, learned to read with the Fundations curriculum, attended an assembly, attended a fun family event like Glow Fun or the "Me and My Guy Dance", or used any of the many classroom supplies that we reimbursed teachers for, then your family benefitted from the presence of the PTA.

In the 2020-2021 school year there will be additional challenges for our teachers and staff with extended distance learning.  With all of the changes to how our students learn, Ballantyne Elementary is implementing a whole school mindset & habit structure (called The Leader In Me) to help our students become leaders in their learning, wherever they are learning from!  A new mentality towards educating our students and preparing them to succeed in the 21st century takes training for our staff & students and, unfortunately, this type of training is not something funded by public school dollars.  It is your donations that will make this program a success and will allow the students and staff at Ballantyne Elementary to embrace empowerment as we approach the unknowns of the new school year and creates a space that restarts academic learning, while supporting emotional well-being.

On the budget, the Capital Campaign line is $15,000 but the incentives go all the way to $30,000?

We know that 2020 has been a hard year so we have adopted the mantra "Shoot for the Moon, Land Among the Stars" meaning we need the $15,000 from our campaign to balance our budget but if we can earn more, we can do more...and let's be honest, we ALWAYS want to do more for our school and staff and kids!  That is why we were more conservative in budgeting but are aiming higher with the incentives just in case we are blessed with more than we expected!

It doesn't take much to hit our budgeted goal, just $20 from each student will get us there and more!

I don't want any of these programs and resources to go away!!  How can I help?

It's easy!  You can make a donation today by clicking below!  Your donation is tax deductible (and often matchable by employers...see below!) and counts towards the fun incentives offered for this campaign!

If I donate, will my child get anything for the donation?

Besides enriching the educational experience for all of the children at our school, donating builds a sense of community and those children take pride in something they know their family helped create.  Not only does being a part of an engaged community benefit your children but seeing their family participate helps them learn to have a servant's heart which is a trait that will see them through their adult years.  Be that great example and help us build leaders!

In addition to the intangible benefits of supporting your neighborhood school, the classes with highest participation in the campaign will earn special prizes.  Classrooms or entire grades may also offer fun incentives for participating.  The school, as a whole, will earn the following incentives as the campaign total passes these benchmarks:

School-Wide Incentive Levels
  • $5,000 - Wear a Costume to Zoom Day -  Do you have a costume that you aren't going to wear trick-or-treating this year that you still want to show off?  Do you have a favorite costume from last year that you want to dust off and wear again?  When we get to $5,000 you will get your chance!

  • $7,500 - Zoom Pet Show Day - Have you been dying to show off your new puppy or your favorite stuffed animal?  Well now is the chance as each class will hold a Zoom Pet Show when we hit $7,500!

  • $10,000 - Extra Recess or Brain Break Day - Your teacher will pick a day and you will get one more trip outside, a fun dance party break, or another fun brain break to celebrate the $10,000 given back to support the students and staff!

  • $12,500 - Virtual Field Trip Day - Even though we cannot go on class trips right now, when we get to $12,500 your class will get to go on a virtual adventure to somewhere amazing!  Exploring someplace new, learn new things, AND get out of traditional class time - we think that is a win all around!

  • $15,000 - 100% Day - We made it to 100% of our goal, now your teacher will pick an assignment one day that every single student will get 100% on as well!  What a fun surprise that will be when you look at PowerSchool!

  • $20,000 - Teacher Parade - We know our virtual students are missing seeing their teachers in person and our in-person students are missing getting to see their old teachers around the hallways and at school events.  We will make "20" a good number again when we host a teacher parade where our families can drive through our parade route and wave to all of our staff members and get to say hi from a safe distance!

  • $25,000 - PJ Movie Party - How much fun will it be to earn this one?  Each teacher will pick their date and students will get dressed in their favorite PJs to watch a fun movie (either virtually or in person depending on the class)!

  • $30,000 - By the Students, For the Students - we know this goal is shooting for the moon but, if we can make it here, we want to have something so special that every student is excited about it!  We are raising money for The Leader in Me, this is an election year & civic education is important, and we are all about empowering our future leaders in this process so here is how it goes:
    • When we hit our goal we will allocate part of these funds to each grade for their event.
    • Each grade will get an equal share of the allocation.
    • Each class will elect a "delegate" to their grade level electoral college.
    • Each grade level electoral college will work with the teachers to come up with a list of choices for their grade-level event
    • The list of choices is then voted on by the general population of the grade and sponsored by the PTA

Do you want to learn how you can double your impact?

Many employers will match your donations - visit our Corporate Matching Page for more information!

  • Important: If you want your matched donations to count towards the school-wide or classroom incentives for your student then make sure you forward a copy of the proof of match to our Treasurer at ballantyneptatreasurer@gmail.com before the end of the campaign!  Please include the names and homerooms of what student(s) the match will support.
